LPPM Brawijaya University is dedicated to motivating internal researchers to be able to compete on the national stage through DRTPM proposal funding. On Wednesday (28/2), LPPM presented directly to the Director of the Directorate of Research, Technology and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syuaib, M.Agr., to be present to provide strategic direction and policies for strengthening and developing Higher Education research.

The Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Prof. Unti Ludigdo, who was present to open the workshop, expressed his hope that UB’s arena in developing national research and innovation would become higher. It is expected that the Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UB, the quality and reputation of UB in synergizing and collaborating with international parties, will increase from year to year.

Meanwhile, in his speech, the Head of LPPM UB, Prof. Luchman Hakim explained that workshop activities were significant to perform in the context of continuous improvement of research and service at Brawijaya University. “UB’s funding to finance research and service activities is very limited. Meanwhile, the demands on UB are getting higher. Therefore, LPPM must continue to strive to obtain external funding,” said the FMIPA Professor.

Added by the Chief Executive of the activity, Dr. Sc. Lukman Hakim, the effort to motivate all researchers at UB to compete in BIMA is LPPM’s concern so that lecturers do not only rely on internal funding. It is also to improve UB’s bargaining position in the national arena.

In line with this, the Director of DRTPM, Directorate General of Diktistek, Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syuaib, M.Agr, explained that Indonesia’s comparative potential is extraordinary. However, competitiveness is not yet visible. “Such potential must be transformed into production. The quality of higher education is not judged by what it has but by what it produces. For this reason, the higher the TKT, the research context must also be cross-disciplinary. “It enables us to answer the challenges of the outside world,” he said.

The resource person who also attended the workshop was Prof. Dr. Rer. Nat. Fredy Kurniawan, M.Si from the 10 November Institute of Technology, Surabaya explained the steps for preparing a competitive research proposal. Meanwhile, the service was delivered by UNS professor Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astrin, MS.
