The Directorate of Research and Community Services Universitas Brawijaya (DRCS UB) organized a Workshop on the Strategy for Obtaining USAID External Research Grants at the Rectorat Building 8th floor on Saturday (10/8). The workshop was attended by researchers, Heads of Study Groups, Heads of Study Centers, and Heads of Service Centers from Universitas Brawijaya.
The Rector emphasized that the quality of higher education depends on research excellence and productivity. Internal funding is just the beginning, and researchers are encouraged to build networks and learn effective strategies for securing external research funding, particularly from abroad.
The workshop featured a presentation from USAID Finance Manager Harmoni Widayat Adi, providing insights into international funding opportunities, including USAID grants, and guidance on the application process. Additionally, there were sessions on accessing grants and grant compliance presented by Parana Ari Santi and Farah Zarana, respectively.
Dr. Hipolitus, a moderator from the Faculty of Arts, emphasized the need for researchers to form strong interdisciplinary teams, align their study fields with research topics, and gain a comprehensive understanding of budget explanations, particularly for USAID funding, to successfully obtain international grants.
DRCS Secretary Prof. Dodi Wirawan Irawanto, SE., M.Com., PhD, concluded the workshop and announced that a coaching clinic would follow at the end of August 2024. He highlighted the significance of interdisciplinary research as a crucial approach to addressing researchers’ capacity challenges.
