A Training for Higher Education Research Reviewers 

University of Brawijaya Institute for Research and Community Services must support research activities to increase national competitiveness in the international domain. The research activities involve the role of certified reviewers to review the proposal and check the research output. 

To fulfill the need of certified reviewers, University of Brawijaya Institute for Research and Community Services, in collaboration with Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti): Directorate General of Research Empowerment and Development & Centre for Training and Education, National Standardization Agency, LSP Quantum, and The Association of National Research Reviewer, held a certification and training for national research reviewer.

IRCS of Brawijaya University was one of the hosts to conduct the training chosen by Kemenristekdikti to invite participants from all qualified higher educations to be accommodated in five-days training on July 9-13th, 2016 at Ijen Suites Hotel and Convention, Malang. The participants were one hundred lecturers from national higher educations in Mandiri, Madya and Utama clusters who met the qualifications.  

On the first day, the training was opened by University of Brawijaya Rector’s speech, Prof. Nuhfil Hanani, hoped that the certification can be the bridge for the University of Brawijaya to increase the competitiveness of Indonesia in the research field. Then on the fifth day, the training was closed by the material titled “Risbang Policy” presented by General Director for Research Empowerment and Development, Dr. Muhammad Dimyati.      

Hopefully, the training could generate qualified research reviewers in evaluating research proposal and outputs to improve research empowerment and development indicators such as publication, intellectual properties, and technology properties. Therefore, the reviewer existence should facilitate and make research empowerment and development efficient to improve its productivity. Besides, the output of this training would be the increase of research collaboration between higher education and research output.
