To enhance the University’s performance in managing research activities and community service, Brawijaya University is fully committed to implementing changes aimed at fostering a sustainable research culture and achieving better outcomes.

As part of these changes, it has been decided to rename the organizational unit responsible for overseeing research activities and community service under the Chancellor’s authority to a Directorate. From March 1, 2024, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) has been renamed as the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM).

According to Rector’s Regulation Number 21 of 2024, which pertains to the Second Amendment to Chancellor’s Regulation Number 12 Year 2023 regarding the Organization and Work Procedures of Units Under the Rector, the Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation, through the Directorate of Research and Community Service, is entrusted with the coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of research and community service activities.

The DRPM establishment has led to changes in the administrative structure, including the renaming of the leadership position from Chair of LPPM to Director of DRPM, and the re-designation of the Research Center. The Director of DRPM is accountable to the Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation and is supported by a Secretary. The Secretary of the DRPM oversees the General Subdivision, Program Subdivision, Data and Information Subdivision, as well as the Functional Position Groups. Moreover, there are four centers, namely the Research Center, which manages research activities and coordinates the Study Center at DRPM; the Community Service Center, which oversees service activities and coordinates the Service Center at DRPM; the Center for Scientific Publications and Journals; and the Quality Assurance Center for Research and Community Service.

With these changes, DRPM is dedicated to providing excellent service in research activities and community service under the principles of good governance of a legal entity university. Furthermore, under the guidance of the Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation, DRPM UB aims to collaborate on research and community service with various legal entity universities and international institutions.
