Brawijaya University provides annual competitive research grants to support the research climate and facilitate its researchers to produce innovative ideas. The grants are grouped into four categories:

1. Research Grant for Young Researchers (HPP)
Intended for junior researchers to assist their early career by providing an opportunity to boost their research
productivity.

2. Distinguished Research Grant (HPU)
The grant is aimed to deliver fundamental research findings closer to its application for the community and
industry by analyzing the market problem and polishing the finding into the market direction. Such purpose tends
to require interdisciplinary approaches, thus the grant requires a research team to consist of several
researchers from different science disciplines. The grant also requires the team to have a partnership with an
industrial or commercial organization that can provide an insight into the market needs.

3. Distinguished Development Research Grant (HAPPU)
The grant is intended to elevate the product prototypes that were obtained from research finding into market-
ready products. The problem needs to be viewed from an interdisciplinary perspective and requires a team of
researchers from different science disciplines. The grant also requires the team to have industrial or
commercial partners that are committed to providing a part of research funding and together delivering the
product into the market.

4. International Collaboration Research Grant (HAPKI)
Intended to support frontline research in collaboration with international partners. The aim is to increase
international exposure and to produce internationally recognized research outputs.
