Rector Inaugurates the Village of Biogas; University of Brawijaya ‘Doktor Mengabdi’ Program

Doktor Mengabdi’ program is a program launched by Brawijaya University Rector, Prof. Moh. Bisri, in increasing the activity to implement the third Pillars of Higher Education namely community services. In this program, Brawijaya University lecturers with doctorate degree are required to perform community services based on their field of study. The total number of the launched program is 72 activity titles by disbursing 4 Billion Rupiah from PNBP UB.

On Tuesday, February 13th, 2018, Head of Doktor Mengabdi program with the title The Village of Biogas at Purwantoro, Dr. Moch. Sasmito Djati, stated that he has decided to choose Sanan as the place for developing biogas digester by looking the utilization potency to use the waste from ‘tempe’ production. Headman of Purwantoro, Moch Hadi, MAP, in his speech said that he appreciates this program with the hope that University of Brawijaya could also dedicate to other RW at Purwantoto besides the 15th RW as The Village of Biogas.

Further, in inaugurating this village, Prof. M. Bisri stated that this program is one of Doktor Mengabdi program that has been conducted up to the border region of Malaysia. Hopefully, University of Brawijaya, he added, could give benefits to the community especially in the area around the campus following the success of injection well, which he has made.

Institute of Research and Community Services – University of Brawijaya (LPPM UB), as the administrator of Doktor Mengabdi program, hopes that this program can be continued next year to support the improvement of university performance.
