Focus Group Discussion: The Development of Innovative Village Model to Accelerate Independent Village

Prof. Haryono Suyono, Head Committee Advisor of Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendesa) sent an appeal to Head of ICRS in Higher Education as Kemendesa’s partners, asking for Implementing Four Priority Kemendesa Programs. In following the matters, Institute of Research and Community Services (ICRS) University of Brawijaya (LPPM UB) held Focus Group Discussion to Develop Innovative Village Model to Accelerate Independent Village on March, 10th 2018 at Malang Santika Premiere Hotel.

Head of LPPM UB, Dr. Bambang Susilo, in his speech stated that LPPM UB is enthusiastic in getting the spirit and extraordinary role model from Prof. Haryono Suyono to implement LPPM UB programs related to the development of innovative village model in the field of economy, population, and employment. This is due to the extraordinary potency of village both on human and natural resources. Then, the materials on the development of innovative village model were presented by Head of Student Study Service (KKN) University of Brawijaya, Dr. Susinggih Wijana.

Before commenting on the presentation, Prof Haryono Suyono explained The Four Priority Programs Developed by Kemendesa. Then, he related the priority programs to innovative village model by proposing some points. One of them is the indicator of the innovative village, which is family. The innovative family is related to SDGs concept which is used as the direct target as the smallest unit of community. To develop the innovative village, he added, it is proper to use students in KKN service because of the minimum bureaucracy.

Afterwards, to respond Prof. Haryono Suyono explanation on the need of human resources development trough workshop in villages conducted by university in BUMDES (village enterprises) forum, the secretary of LPPM UB, Dr. Maftuch, explained ‘Sekolah Desa’ (a school for human resources in village government to learn BUMDES) who was initiated by University of Brawijaya and to be developed with other universities in Indonesia.

Next, Prof. Haryono Suyono, as the Head Committee Advisor of Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendesa) would invite LPPM UB to present its programs in Jakarta and Surabaya as the following up and socialization of the contribution of Brawijaya University in supporting Kemendesa’s programs.
